Biblical Community
Effective ministry is powerfully connecting God and people, because life is better when you are connected in a biblical community.
Doing life together in biblical community was the way Jesus did ministry. He not only ministered in the synagogue, but also while eating a meal, walking down the road, and riding in a boat across the lake with his friends. To Jesus, mentoring those around him in the middle of doing life together was ministry.
Ministry can't be fit into a box. Preaching a sermon is great, but that's not all there is to ministry. Teaching a class is good, prayer is effective, writing is powerful. But all of these are incomplete. The practical integration of life and learning, biblical principles and godly practice in most people's lives is worked out in relationships that are connected and doing life together.
Doing life together means that others grow in their faith along with me, when others suffer I suffer with them, when my friends laugh I laugh too, and enjoy life with them‹all the while I am intentionally coaching and being coached in life.
One of the core practices of a fully-developing follower of Jesus Christ is to be spiritually employed. Spiritual employments means that I am involved in ministry and use my spiritual gifts to accomplish God's purposes. There are eight task teams at Rock Chapel. These teams do the work of the ministry to build up our local congregation.
