Matthew 15:18 (NLT) says, “But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you.”

Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions.

Your mind refers to where your thoughts occur, not our brain.

Your will is your ability to choose.

Emotions are a product of what you think.

Our brain is just like a processor. It takes the thoughts of the mind and turns them into words, impressions or concepts, and ideas that we can understand like – “this feeling means joy, this feeling means hunger,” etc.

Body --- (Brain Connects) --- Soul --- (Heart Connects) --- Spirit

The brain is a doorway between the soul and the body. The heart helps connect the soul to the spirit. The heart is the place or part of you that determines what comes out of your spirit into your soul and reaches the rest of your body.

So…what does all of this mean? Are you speaking what you see or what you want to see? Do you agree with the words that are coming out of your mouth? Let’s take a look at Gideon.

Judges 6:12–14 (NKJV) says, “And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where areall His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”

What Gideon said about himself and what God said about Gideon were two totally different things.God spoke what He saw in Gideon, but Gideon did not see what God saw.

If you don’t believe what God believes about you, then you won’t SPEAK out what God believes about you. Your words are a reflection of what’s already inside. So, you begin to change your words from the inside out, by believing what God says and watching that be put into action!
