If you could meet anyone, who would it be? Maybe it’s your favorite artist, or that singer
you like. Maybe it’s the author of your favorite book or your favorite athlete. Maybe
you’ve imagined yourself meeting that person with the hope that you could become
friends.
What kind of a friend are you? What kind of friends do you have? Did you know that the
foundation of Jesus coming to the earth was because God wanted to be friends with
you? YES, YOU!
Sometimes we get so caught up and distracted with our “doctrine” or what we “believe,”
that these things become our main focus. We forget that the start of this whole belief
system, began with Jesus coming for the ones that God loves. God’s absolute dream is
for you to have a REAL relationship with Jesus, not a religious one, built upon rules and
regulations.
We’ve made Christianity transactional rather than relational. We believe the “right
things” and “do the necessary stuff” for Jesus, and God is primarily where we go when
we need something, but there’s little or no real relationship going on.
So why become friends with Jesus? What if a relationship with Jesus is not about
striving to make it into Heaven as the ultimate goal? What if you discover that a
relationship with Jesus reveals that “heaven” and every good thing is already in you and
having a relationship with Jesus just opens up your life to having heaven on earth.
If you could meet anyone, who would it be?
Did you know that if God could meet anyone, it would be you! That’s right, YOU! You
are HIS person. He really wants to meet you and for you to be His friend.
John 17:23 (TPT), “You live fully in me and now I live fully in them so that they will
experience perfect unity, and the world will be convinced that you have sent me, for
they will see that you love each one of them with the same passionate love that you
have for me.”
